Relford Mitch Ward, Jr., 61, of Middletown, entered eternal rest on April 22, 2023.

Mitch was born in Norfolk, VA on February 1, 1962, a son of the late Relford Mitch Ward, Sr. and Annette Brown Ward.

He was a graduate of Middletown High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from University of New Haven. Mitch was employed by the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch as a Chief Judicial Marshal for Middlesex County. He graduated from the police academy and received extensive training from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition, He was a member of NOBLE, The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.

Mitch loved spending time with his daughter. They were best friends. He really enjoyed watching football and his team was the Los Angeles Rams. He collected Rams logo items and had them all over his home. He also enjoyed gaming with players from all across the country.

He leaves to cherish loving memories, his beloved daughter, Jade Annette Ward; his former spouse, Debra Stueber-Ward; A nephew Derrick Ward, Sister-in law Mary-Jane Ward; an Uncle David Brown; an aunt Julia Brown; cousins, Anthony Brown and his wife Valarie and Karol Thompson and her husband Keith; Carl Brown and his wife Miriam, Kay Bryant, Anthony Bryant, William Leonard, John Leonard and his wife Sharon, Virginia Leonard, Darryl Leonard, Bryan Leonard and his wife Amorita; special friends Ronny Salmon, Craig and Kristy Byrd, Nealy Earl Jr., Ron Wayne Perry, Kyle White and other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Madeline Tirado Ward; and his brother, Reginald Ward.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 346 Butternut Street, Middletown, CT where the pastor is Bishop W. Vance Cotten Sr. and Co-Pastor Reverend Dr. Kim L. Cotten. A viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 A.M. The burial will be in Indian Hill Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
