On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Marion Elaine Branch Miller entered eternal rest. She was born on January 1, 1926, in Powhatan, Virginia to the late Linnie and Rosa Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Neveron Miller, Sr., her son, Gary Miller and granddaughter, Kendra Miller. She is the 11th child of 14 children. She attended Belona Elementary School and Powhatan High School.

Marion married the love of her life Leslie Neveron Miller Sr. in Belona, Virginia on September 15th. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Riverhead, New York and then to New Haven, CT. Out of this union were born 8 children: Andrea, Larene, Donna, Leslie, Terri, Gary, Tracie and Robin. After being blessed to stay home to raise her children, she had the opportunity to further her education at the New Haven Skill Center in customer service. She was blessed to work at the Connecticut Limousine Company until retirement.

Marion has been an active member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ for over 60 years. She held several titles in the church such as: Prayer and Bible Band, Mother’s Board, and Women’s Department. She is recognized as the Church Mother.

Some of her favorite activities include sewing not only for her family, but she also sewed the first uniforms for the Sunshine Band and choir robes for her church.

In addition to her sewing, Marion also enjoyed cooking and was known for her famous fried chicken, upside down pineapple cakes, cupcakes and apple and sweet potato pies. Her cooking was so well known that it was sought after for various functions and bake sales.

Plants and gardening were also a passion of hers. In her quiet time, she loves to relax and listen to her spirituals. She was not only a mother and mentor to her children but also to every child that crossed her path.

She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted son, Leslie Miller of CT and 6 daughters, Andrea Hill of GA, Larene Brown (Michael), Donna Miller (Michael), Terri Green (Craig), Robin Peters (Daniel) all of CT and Tracie Miller (Ralph) of OH; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter. She also leaves to cherish her memories, her only surviving sibling; Tessie Bates of VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family, Holy Trinity COGIC.

She will be remembered as a woman of strong faith and a great example of a Virtuous Woman. Her children arise and call her blessed.  If there is one thing she would love to leave us with, it would be these words: “If I can help somebody as I pass along, If I cheer somebody with a word or song, If I can show somebody they are traveling wrong, THEN MY LIVING WAS NOT IN VAIN.”

A celebration of Ms. Miller’s life and legacy will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ, 139 Winthrop Ave., New Haven. Family and friends may view at the church from 9:00-10:00 AM. The burial will be private. The service will livestreamed via the following link: https://www.facebook.com/share/18u5QUWozB/
