Manuel A. DeLuz, Jr. (Butch) passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2021 at the Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI. He was born in New Haven on February 11, 1945, the son of the late Manuel and Amelia DeLuz. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. He graduated from the Wilbur Cross High School in 1962. He attended Gateway Community College. He retired from the Yale Dining Hall where he worked for many years.

Butch was very sociable and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked visiting with friends near and far. One of his favorite pastimes was to drive to Alabama to go fishing with friends. In addition, he loved to go fishing as well as eat raw clams with his sons and grandchildren.

He is the beloved father of two sons, Abdullah Ibn-DeLuz and John DeLuz. He is survived by his brother, Antonio J. DeLuz, Sr.; and sisters, Rose Jackson, Louise Pires-Curtis, Lorraine DeLuz and Kathy Rogers. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by two of his brothers, John and Albert Pires; as well as his longtime companion, Ms. Margaret Holloway.

A celebration of Mr. DeLuz’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven, CT.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
