Dorothy L. Freeman, 92, of Hamden, CT, entered eternal rest on September 2, 2021. She was born the youngest of four children on June 6, 1929 in New Haven, CT to the late Mary (Davis) Perry and the late Jack Perry. She was a member of Saint Martin de Porres Church and attended New Haven Public Schools.

Dorothy was married to the late Clarence Eugene Freeman and from this union produced three children. She was employed with the City of New Haven (Redevelopment Agency), worked at James Hillhouse High School, and then the APT Foundation as a Counselor for ‘The Mother’s Project’ until her retirement in the mid-90s.

Dorothy adored her family and especially her grandchildren (who affectionately called her ‘Nonnie’).

Dorothy is survived by her children: Gerene Freeman, Patricia Owens, and Clarence Eugene Freeman, Jr.; four grandchildren: Kimberly Owens, Mindy Marks (Bryan), Clarence Eugene Freeman, III, and Leesa Freeman; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, former husband, and sisters: Helen Bosley, Marjorie Burns, Frances Wilson, and sister-in-law Beverly Eldridge.

Dorothy was a dedicated and caring woman who loved her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever live in our hearts. A private funeral service was held through Curvin K. Council Funeral Home.
