Mr. Leon W. Parson was born on January 31, 1954. He transitioned from this life to glory on February 2, 2022 at the Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut surrounded by his family.
Leon was the son of the late Mr. Joseph Parson, Sr. and Mrs. Queen Elizabeth Parson of South Carolina.
He was reared and educated in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Leon graduated from C. E. Murray High School in Greeleyville, South Carolina. Upon his graduation from high school he relocated to the New Haven, Connecticut area and it became his home.
He was a skillful entrepreneur and dedicated worker in several professions; however, it was at Marrakech Inc. where he spent most of his working years as a Fleet Manager. The workers at Marrakech respected and admired his ability to always get the job done.
Leon leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters: Latoria (Anthony) Hernandez , Shaquita Walton, two sons: Brandon Parson, Cameron Parson, four granddaughters: Janiya and Jayda Daniels, Aurea and Brooklyn Hernandez, stepchildren: Makeshu and Harold Turnage.
His family who remain to celebrate his life are three sisters (Geraldine Jones of Kingstree, S.C., Jean (David) Bell of Conyers, GA) and Lilly Mae-(Allen) Morant of Lanes, S.C. ; three brothers (Deacon Robert (Dawn) Parson of New Haven, CT; Deacon Larry (Vanessa) Parson of Brandon, FL and Roger (Sondra) Parson of San Antonio, TX); two aunts (Mrs. Mildred Major of Trenton, NJ and Mrs. Jessie Mae McClary); two sisters-in-law (Mrs. Shirley Parson of Lane, SC and Mrs. Yvonne Parson of Maudling, MA); and a host of uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is so grateful for the caring, life-long friend, Ms. Irma Turnage and his son’s supportive, maternal grandmother, Jan Juris.
Preceding Leon in death was the mother of his two sons; Lisa Lynn, and three brothers: Joseph Parson, Jr., Mack Parson, and Roosevelt Parson.
A celebration of Mr. Leon Parson’s life will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00 am at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. A Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am. The burial will be in Beaverdale Cemetery, 90 Pine Rock Ave, New Haven, CT. Please adhere to all COVID-19 safety precautions. In all my 40+ yrs i’ve never seen anyone with such a strong work ethic. I’m sure if he could’ve he would’ve kept on til tha very last second. I admired that in him so I borrowed that tool & put it in my own bag . He was quite tha craftsman, painter,electrician, carpenter, photographer & then some. My hero u will be greatly missed 😢 ❤ ✊🏼💪
Leon always came to my rescue every time I locked my keys in the car, broke down on the highway or had an accident. His picture should be beside the definition of alacrity. He was always willing to help and always with a smile and boy could that man dance. He will be greatly missed. I pray his family finds comfort in knowing how much he was loved by all!
This hurts so much. Leon was such a special person. Loved by everyone. He raised his son’s, my grandsons, alone from ages 4 and 6 and did a wonderful job. I am sure Lisa was so proud. Leon did not know the meaning of the word “no”. Always willing to help with anything and everything. Our world has lost a wonderful man but Heaven gained an angel. Leon will be always remain in my heart.
Leon will be truly missed worked with him for over 17 years and he was an awesome person to work with. I will miss that smile he would give when things were going as planned. He had a good heart and attitude and would help you when ever you needed him if he could. Sending condolences and prayers to all the family especially the boys. May you find peace and comfort.

My heart is broken 💔 for my dear brother Leon. It’s difficult to believe that he has made that ultimate transition. The one that we all must make at some point in our lives; the question is, will we be ready? David and I, Leon and the boys have taken several ready nice vacation trips (Mrytle Beach, Hilton Head, and Orlando) togerher within the last 10 years; and oh, they are so memorable. However, this trip is solo journey that you are taking, but we shall see you again in our Heavenly Manson. We will sorely miss you until we meet again. RIP!

I met Leon when I worked at Marrakech but we found out years later that we had family from south carolina and we would jokingly say we might be cousins. he always had a smile and a answer or if not he would say let me get back to you. He was one of them kind of people you always enjoyed seeing. Rest peaceful Leon🕊🕊
Leon was an incredible person, and was never not smiling. He was always there with a helping hand or a listening ear, and had the greatest sense of humor. And man, could he dance! He was a friend to everyone he met. He touched so many lives in so many ways, and we won’t be the same without him. Our hearts and prayers are with his family, especially his children.
Words can not express how utterly upset we are regarding the passing of Mr.Parson. I, (Valerie) met Mr. Parson at Davis Street School when he approached me to tell me that he was skilled in home remodeling and repairs (2014). We not only used Mr. Parson almost exclusively, we introduced him to six other friends and homeowners. We used him because he did great work and he was a nice person. He oversaw the entire remodeling of a Westville home, did work at our primary residence in Woodbridge and even last month gave my son advice as he prepared a unit for rental. He was our “go to”person and he will be sorely missed. Our prayers to the family and we will reach out soon.
Leon was such a great and wonderful man whom l enjoyed working with over the years!! He and my Dad were the best of friends wen l was just a5yr old kid. Who would’ve known yrs later..we’d meet at Marrakech, working together and l’d learn he and my Dad were best friends for yrs. Ever since he shared that with me….our bond got tighter!! Leon wasn’t like family to me, he WAS FAMILY to me!! I will never forget him ever and l will miss him so much!! I’m keeping his whole family in my prayers always especially his boys!! Words will never be enough to say how much you will be missed! You were family since day one. I remember you coming up the street and doing fireworks, playing with your oldest children. Mr. Leon Parsons will be missed dearly, He was a very nice person with a wonderful smile and personality to match. He was always there for anyone in a time of need. My condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Sleep in peace Lee-Lee! I worked under Leon during my pregnancy while working at Marrakech. Such a down to earth man always cracking a joke. One thing is for certain he loved food and always drove me crazy about “Jersey Joe’s.” 😑😑 my response “Leon, it’s Jersey Mike’s.”
We went to Jersey Mike’s in Branford, CT. Leon Ordered a cold cut sandwich and asked for oil and vinegar, he kept telling the man “put more up there!” I said “Leon your bread is going to be soggy!” Leon responded “no it’s not enough, put more!” So when the man finally finished it had to be almost a gallon of vinegar on the sandwich. Vinegar was dripping on the sides it was a mess. I’ll tell you one thing Leon ate that sandwich like it was the best things EVER!
Fast forward for the next 4 years my name was “Jersey Joes!”
