Leonard Moxam, lovingly known as Mas Lenny / Mista Mac, was born June 7, 1925 in the Treasure Beach, West Indies, to the late Easton (Moochu) Moxam and Doris(Birdie) Moxam.

Leonard was the first child of seven and was loved and respected by all of his siblings. He went to Sandy Bank Elementary School in Treasure Beach. Leonard was the eldest and had to stay home and work the land and feed the cows. Leonard went and learned the fishing trade and went to Great Bay and Calabash and started fishing.

Leonard met his beloved wife, Dorothy, in Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine Parrish as she was walking up from the market. Pops said to himself,  “Dat woman look good Mek me go home and change and come back and check her”……and started courting her. He was bow-legged and a looker.  He and his beloved married and made life in Old Harbour for 10 years. They had children and then moved to Treasure Beach. Leonard sold fish. He got a truck and built up a great fish route. When his first born son suddenly died, Leonard was struck with sadness. He and Johnny pioneered fish selling from house to house which led many others to follow his stance.

Leonard’s upbringing helped to develop his strength, character and work ethic.  Leonard was a hard worker, father and provider for his family. He will always be remembered sitting on his veranda calling out to others.

In 1981 the family moved to Connecticut. Leonard looked for several jobs until he got a job at Park Plaza where he worked in all capacities for 20 years until he retired in 1989.

The happiest time in his life was when he was able to build his home in Treasure Beach and provide for his family.  Leonard and his wife retired and moved back to Jamaica in 1990.  He lived in Treasure Beach and sold fish. He later began to show signs of illness and relocated back to Connecticut to be close to his children. His condition progressively worsened and on July 3, 2017, the Lord called Leonard home.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 60+ year, Dorothy; his children, Michael (wife: Deborah), Charles (wife: Claudette) and Paul (wife:Andrea); grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Nigel, Joshua and Jordan; and a host of, nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

Leonard was predeceased by his son, Robert; and his brothers and sisters: Rafael (Pearl) Joyce Gordon, Carrie (Zelrita) Forrest (Johnny), Barry, Sissy Hew (Alwin), and Ronald (predeceased wife: Joyce).
