Virginia E. Ivory, 81, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on July 13, 2021. She was the widow of Jesse Ivory.
Mrs. Ivory was born in Torrington, CT on December 31, 1939, a daughter of the late Oliver Thompson, Sr. and Frances Jones Thompson.
She was employed for many years at Truman School in New Haven as a Lunch Aide. Virginia was a longtime member of the Salvation Army Church in New Haven.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, her children, Gregory Ivory, Jeffrey Ivory, Virginia Reyes Colon, Marina Reyes Colon (Robert Manick) and Mariano Reyes Colon, Jr.; a sister, Roberta Proctor; brother, Donald Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Mariano Reyes Colon, Sr.; brothers, Gordon Thompson and Oliver Thompson, Jr.; sisters, Margo Walker, Pauline White, Phyllis White and Patricia Thompson; and two grandchildren, Hampton Brown and Thea Lawrence.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. The burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

I remember growing up and always being around the Thompson family, Virginia was my favorite. I haven’t seen her in years but I remember her smile and what a nice she was, Greg and Jeffery I will always remember your mom, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Love Becky
I will miss our talks together and going to bible study and church together . She was always a queen to me and so happy she was a big part of my upbringing . My heart is heavy right now but I know she is in a better place with her loved ones and the God is loved so very much <3 She will be missed so very much and she will forever be in my heart .I LOVE YOU VIRGINA SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE ~ YOUR ONE OF OUR ANGELS NOW
