Sylvia Ruth Rowe, 73, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on October 16, 2014. She was the widow of Frank Rowe, Jr.
Born in Jacksonville, AL, July 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Williams Blackwell and Elnora Green Blackwell.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Rowe was employed by the City of New Haven in the Food Services Dept. and also at Yale University in the Dining Services Dept.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church.
Mrs. Rowe is survived by daughters, Monique and Lakisha Quicksey, Deborah Quicksey-Meade and Gayle Quicksey-Wilder; sons, William Quicksey, Jr. and Franklin Quicksey; sisters, Bettey Blackwell-Thomas and Bobbye Blackwell; grandchildren, Monè and Reshawn Blue as well as 11 other grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by brothers, James E., Thomas and Charles Blackwell; and sisters, Dorothy Blackwell-Wright and Mary Blackwell-Crawford.
A celebration of Mrs. Rowe’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
