Robert “Bob” Lee Smith, Jr., 72, of East Haven, entered eternal rest on October 2, 2024.

Mr. Smith was born in Manhattan, NY, on December 24, 1951, a son of the late Robert Lee Smith, Sr. and Eunice Smith.

He was employed at Sargent Manufacturing as an Assemblyman and had also been employed by the New Haven Register, Circuit Wise and the Boys and Girls Club.

Bob was a devoted father, cherished grandfather and loving husband for 50 years of marriage to the love of his life, Deborah A. Smith.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish loving memories, a son, Robert “Bobby” Smith of New Haven; daughter, A’zsha Tillman (Calvin) of East Haven; siblings, Emanuel Smith (Melanie) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Cynthia Moody (Donny) of Suffolk, VA; Lavinia Smith of New Haven, Kenneth Smith of Newport News, Virginia; Ward Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia; Norman Smith (Sharon) and Dearvon Smith-Peoples (Donnell) of Norfolk, Virginia; Holanda Harding (Otis) of Suffolk, Virginia; Pamela (Richard) Padua Smith of New Haven; and a sister in-law, Dee-Dee; nine grandchildren, Bobby, Britany, Robert, Ashley, Ty-Zhayia, Taylin, Tyvon, Cameron and Kazshmere; two nieces whom he help raise, Idella and Salina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends whom he deeply loved.

He was predeceased by a brother, Andre Smith and two nephews, Tyvon Threatt, and Michael Padua.

A celebration of Mr. Smith’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. The burial will be private.
