John D. McKnight, 78, of Hamden, entered eternal rest on February 22, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Isabelle McKnight.
Mr. McKnight was born February 4, 1943, in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late Coady McKnight and Julia Mae Moore McKnight.
He was employed for 41 years and six months at Yale University as a Supervisor of the Housekeeping Department. While working at Yale University, he concurrently worked at Talmadge Park for 28 years and the Stop & Shop Warehouse for 10 years. His places of employment also included the former New Haven Coliseum, the Bridgeport Courthouse and the Connecticut State Capitol Building.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish loving memories, his children, David McKnight (Madora), Sylvia Warren(Jeffery), Willie McKnight, Tyrone McKnight and Shakina McKnight; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a sister, Marie McKnight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, James “Jimmy” McKnight; and sisters, Daisy Mae Pearson, Margaret Woods, Betty Lou Epps and Lillie Ann McKnight.
A Walk-through viewing will be held Friday, February 26, 2021, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will follow immediately after the viewing in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
