Erma Lee Joyner, 83, of West Haven, entered eternal rest on July 24, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Elijah Joyner, Sr.
Mrs. Joyner was born in Greenville, NC, on February 5, 1933, a daughter of the late Webster and Charlotte Foskey.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Yale University.
Erma was a longtime member of Pitts Chapel UFWB Church where she served on the Mother’s Board as well as numerous other auxiliaries.
She leaves to cherish loving and lasting memories, her children, Travis Joyner, Eugene (Sam) Foskey and Elijah (Maggie) Joyner, Jr.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her siblings.
A celebration of Mrs. Joyner’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 9:00 AM at Pitts Chapel UFWB Church, 64 Brewster St., New Haven. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church Friday, July 29, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
You were always a loyal woman of God, you will be missed greatly. I have always loved you, and shall continue, as I will always carry you in a scared place within my heart.
