Charles Lester Daniels Sr. was born on February 22, 1927 to the late Joe and Minnie Smith Daniels in Ayden, North Carolina. He died February 25, 2023 at Hamden Healthcare Center after a brief stay. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Dolores M. Whitfield Daniels; a daughter Leslie Lassiter; a son Charles Daniels Jr. (Natalie); two grandchildren, Cemal (Sheena) and Cherrese Lassiter and three great grandchildren Cemal and Cemaya Lassiter and Saige Barrett; sister-in-law Andrea Whitfield; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by all of his brothers and sisters and a daughter Patricia Daniels Stewart (from a previous marriage).
Charles came to New Haven from Virginia in 1945 along with his cousin John Tyson. He met Dolores in 1946. After a while, they began dating and married on April 25, 1953. Charles worked at Sperry and Barnes as a meat packer until its closing and as a machine operator at Pond Lily until it closed. He retired from Stamford Wrecking in 1992.
Charles was introduced to the truth through his wife and began to study with Paul Cappella in the late 1950’s. He and Dolores were baptized in 1961. Charles had the privilege to become a ministerial servant and handled the literature in the North Unit and Newhallville Congregations. He also helped in building the View Street and Wintergreen Kingdom Halls. He was active into his late eighties. He was a lifelong New York Giants fan and was ribbed by friends and strangers alike over his Giants hats that he always wore. He will be sorely missed and we look forward to seeing him soon.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 885 Wintergreen Ave. in Hamden, CT.

My Name is Calvin, and I was very happy to finally meet my Uncle Daniels for the first time ,and I was very happy, because my Dad talk about his brother in Connecticut for the longest time, and said that he was very quiet, and did not talk a lot, unless you talked to him. He can down to Chesapeake, Va. Him,and his Wife Delorse, visit us at our Kingdom Hall,at our Sunday meeting. He would be very miss, and that he’s in
Jehovah’s memory. Love Calvin & Carolyn Daniels.
