Betty Jane Trader was born on January 10, 1930 in Milford, Connecticut. She was one of eleven children born to the late Willis Henry and Mary Lou Brockenberry. To many she was a mother figure and to some she was a loving aunt.
Betty attended Milford High School and later obtained her GED through Adult Education.
Betty spent many years in the domestic field. She had many talents and was skilled in areas such as sewing, crocheting, baking, painting and playing the organ.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters; Joyce Brooks and Grace Samborski; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her aunt, Etta Brockenberry.
She was predeceased by her four brothers; Willis Brockenberry Jr. Robert, Allen, Edward and Ernest Brockenberry; and three sisters; Doris Stewart, Maryann and Rose Brockenberry.
A celebration of Ms. Trader’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Paul UAME Church, 1267 Chapel St, New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
