Adellar Louise Payne, 85, of Hamden, entered eternal rest on September 19, 2022. She was the widow of Milton Payne.
Mrs. Payne was born September 26, 1936, in Roanoke, AL, a daughter of the late Robert Henry Pool and Beulah (Patillo) Pool.
She worked at the Dwight and Hill Health Care neighborhood health centers in New Haven, as a nurse. Prior to retirement, she was employed at the Hospital of Saint Raphael as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant.
Mrs. Payne was a longtime and faithful member of the New Haven Church of Christ where she served with the food and clothing distribution work.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, a son, James Gregory Payne (Linda); a sister, Ethel Bell Bridgeford; a sister-in-law, Faye Pool; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Norman Payne; brothers, Robert Henry Pool, Jr. and James Lewis Pool; a sister-in-law, Annie Pool; sisters, Mary Jane Hanson and Beatrice Laverne Pool, and two brothers-in-law, Paul Bridgeford and Booker Hanson.
A celebration of Mrs. Payne’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at New Haven Church of Christ, 16 Gem St., New Haven. My deepest condolences to the family of adellla what a beautiful person she was. I worked with her many years ago at st Raphael hospital , we eat lunch together , work together , laughed a lot together . she was a very God lady with a Godly spirit , what a kind soul she had .
