Lucile Harrison earned her wings on August 8, 2023. She was the widow of Willoby Harrison, Sr. Mrs. Harrison was born November 5, 1926, in Kershaw County, Lugoff, SC, daughter of the late McKinley Taylor and Lelia Gripper Taylor. Lucile was educated in the South Carolina school system. After giving birth to eight children, she and her family moved to Connecticut.
Prior to retiring, she was employed as Head Desk Attendant at the Yale University Commons Dining Hall for over thirty years.
Lucile loved the Lord, her church St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, her children, and her Usher Board. We affectionately called her “Mrs. Usher Board.” She also loved traveling, cooking and gardening, which were some of her favorite things to do.
She loved sharing her home with her family and all the neighborhood kids. Everybody wanted to visit “Ma Harrison.” She was a very loving, kind and sincere person to everyone she met. She will be missed by many but never forgotten.
She leaves to mourn, two sons, William of Miami, FL and Willoby Jr. of Hamden, CT; a daughter, Alberta of Columbia, SC; one brother, Gillis Taylor (Taira) of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by 4 sons, Milton Harrison, Ralph Harrison, Anthony Harrison and Finley Harrison.
My deepest condolences to the Harrison Family. “Earth has No Sorrow that Heaven Can Not Heal “. “Ma Harrison” had a heart of gold . A lot of us spend time at the house. When the Harrison children ate who ever was present ate too. Ma spread her love around to everyone . MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY.
