Edita “Melu” Emelda Taylor, age 79, of New Haven, died Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital: St. Raphael Campus. She was the widow of Oscar L. Berrios.
Ms. Taylor was born September 16, 1940 in Guatemala, Central America, a daughter of the late Constantino Taylor and Sarah Williams Taylor.
She was a child care provider for many years and was a devoted Christian.
She leaves two daughters, Glenda Whitfield of New Haven and Ingrid Dennis of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Oscar Whitfield and Sindy To; great grandchildren, Bell, Penelope and Emma; brother, Roberto Taylor; sisters, Olga Logan, Sonia Lewis and Graciela Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her children, Mirta Lorena, Kenneth Roberto, Oscar Wilmort and Erick Giovanni; brothers, Jimmy, Geraldo, Armando, Bernardo, David, Frank and Alexander Taylor; and sisters, Estela, Martha, Berta and Elena.
A viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will be private.
I love you Tia Emelda and will forever remember you. You were always a kind an gentle soul. Rest In Peace. My condolences to my Tias Olga, Sonia, Grace, and Tío Roberto, and the rest of the family in Connecticut. Your nephew Alex Taylor (son of Armando Taylor)
