Shirley A. Gadsden, 73, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on July 3, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Gadsden.
Mrs. Gadsden was born in St. Stephen, SC on September 24, 1945, a daughter of the late William Gadsden and Neomia Giles Gadsden.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by Finlay Fine Jeweler as an Inspector and was a longtime member of Sweet Hope Plain FWB Church in New Haven.
In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish loving memories, her children, Anthony Ravenell (Ella), Sheldon Gadsden (Linda) and Arnold Gadsden (Mary); sisters, Jackie Giles, Geneva Banks and Maria Baez; brothers, Octavia Baez and Ralph Banks; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Wallace Giles and Gary and James Baez.
A celebration of Mrs. Gadsden’s life and legacy will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Pitts Chapel UFWB Church, 64 Brewster St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.

We would like to express our deepest sorrow to Joseph Gadsden and family. Shirley was a beautiful person inside out. Everytime we met she was kind and loving. I know the angels in heaven are singing now, because she has joined them in eternal rest. Sleep in peace!!!!
