Patricia L. Simon, 75, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on July 4, 2018. She was the widow of Hubert Simon.
Mrs. Simon was born in Winston-Salem, NC on January 19, 1943, a daughter of the late Raymond and Francine Miller.
She worked at Yale for 48 years as a Manager in the Technical Services department at the Sterling Memorial Library.
She was a member of Promise Land Church of God where she sang in the choir.
Patricia leaves to cherish loving memories, a son, Hubert Berkeley; a daughter, Shayla Byrd (Kenyatta); brothers, Richard B. Miller and Michael E. Miller (Cheryl); sisters, Barbara M. Lash, Marlene M. Howard and Frances E. Townsend (Terry); six grandchildren, Shanice, Alisha, Brandon and Jeshanah Berkeley and Kennedy and Zoe Byrd; a great grandchild, Chelsey Berkeley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond P. Miller.
A celebration of Mrs. Simon’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. at Promise Land Church of God, 240 Burwell Rd., West Haven. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A musical celebration service will be held at the church Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
To the family of Patricia Simon, I extend my sincere condolences for your tremendous loss. Pat was a BIG presence in our lives – her spirit; how she loved; her generosity; her advice; her friendship; and her laughter. I will miss her so much. May the God of all comfort sustain you all for as long as you need Him.

My sincere condolences to the Simon Family, I had the pleasure of meeting Pat my first supervisor when I began my career at Yale 36 years ago. Herb I’m so sorry to hear about Ms. Pat. My condolences to you and your family. I loved her not only as a woman who cared so much about the her family but the people around her. She was a beautiful person and wonderful colleague. Ms. Pat will surely be missed by all.
Ms. Pat, sorry to hear about your passing. God’s word says ‘You are but a Mist appearing for a little while and then disappearing’ (James 4:14) Yet, John 5:28,29 speaks about all those resting in their memorial tombs will be resurrected , to live again on this Earth. So take your rest my dear friend and hopefully I will see you again in the New System.
