Jimmie Lee Holmes, 76, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on October 6, 2017.
Mr. Holmes was born in West Memphis, AR on August 1, 1941.
Jimmie was the son of the late Joe Holmes, Jr. and Ernestine Holmes. He honorably served in the Navy as a Chef. Prior to retiring, Jimmie was employed at the New Haven Juvenile Detention Center, utilizing his gourmet skills after a lengthy career in culinary. He was well respected and loved by many.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Cora Holmes; six children; nine siblings; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mr. Holmes’ life and legacy will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 9:00 AM at The New Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ, 285 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Our path crossed not often but I was proud to call Jimmy my brother in law. You will be missed.
