Katherine Ann Joyner, 62, was born in New Haven, Connecticut a daughter of the late Claude C. Joyner, Sr. and Minnie Atkinson Joyner. She passed away in Georgia.
Kathy received her education in the New Haven Public School System graduating from James Hillhouse High School. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she received an Associate’s Degree from Georgia Perimeter College-Decatur Campus (now Georgia State University) majoring in Computer Science. She also attended Clayton State University, working toward her BA degree. She was employed by Kroger’s for many years.
Her most memorable talents and hobbies were well received. They included Arts and Crafts, volunteering with community (through Village Keepers, Inc., Girls Scout Troops, schools, etc.). Kathy was a professional and personal seamstress/tailor for many; She loved cooking and many looked forward to partaking in her dinners, gatherings and cookouts.
She leaves to celebrate her memories sisters: Sheila Joyner-Pritchard of Georgia and Anna Mae Bowen of Pennsylvania; two brothers: Claude C. Joyner, Jr. (Dolores) of Maryland and Christopher Joyner (Renee) of Delaware.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents and her only child, a daughter, Danielle Camellia Joyner and a brother, Dennis Earl Joyner. She was the paternal granddaughter of the late Rev. Ardro W. Joyner and Mother Bertha Hardy Joyner and maternal granddaughter of the late Bishop Austin Atkinson and Mother Lethia Johnson Atkinson. Kathy will be missed by aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and friends.
A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Agape Christian Center, 90 Goffe St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Katherine. In God’s word the Bible is a wonderful promise for the loved ones we have lost in death in this difficult time it will give you hope and comfort John 5:28,29 and Revelation 21:3-5.

Time has no knowing of the future, kathy had a wonderful and loving daughter that the both of them is now with absent from body is present with the Lord , I know it is hard on everyone that love kathy , Fine Peace in knowing that look to the hill that come your strength because all your strength comes from the Lord. So sorry for your loss. May all of the beautiful memories of Kathy forever linger in your hearts. I have known the Joyner family for many years. It saddened me to hear of the passing of Kathy. May God bring peace and healing to all of you. Kathy was a beautiful person, and will be missed by many.
