Noah “Bo” Henderson Cox, 73, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on June 22, 2017. He was the husband of Benzenia Lucky Cox.
Born in Ayden, NC on March 2, 1944, he was the son of the late Willie Sr. and Esther Mae Cox.
Prior to retiring, Bo was employed by the City of New Haven’s Department of Public Works. He was a member of Kingdom Nation for Christ Church.
Bo was a devoted family man who loved nothing more than spending time with relatives. He was well-loved because of his warm and friendly personality, his generosity, his sense of humor and his ability to tell great stories. He was also brilliant at solving problems and, long after others gave up, would keep working tirelessly until he achieved his goal. Most of all, he was known for his love of driving fast cars.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish loving memories: A son, Noah Keith Cox (Kim); daughters Antoinette Cox, Esther Cox Greene (Anthony Sr.), Jean Cox McGill, Kenya Ezeanuna, Na’imah Cox Moore (Kyshant Sr.) and Toni Scott; brothers Alonzo Earl Cox (Faith) and Arthur Ray Cox (Julane); sisters Ida Ruth Daniels, Annie Marie Cox, Mary Esther Cox and Brenda Kay Jackson (Malik); sisters-in-law Jamilah Wali, Bettie Cox, Aurelia Elder (James), Mary Louise Lucky and Dorothy Lucky; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Brown; brothers Rahim Wali, Sr., Luther Cox, Willie Cox Jr. and Jimmie Lee Cox; a sister, Carolyn Faye Tyler; a sister in-law, Lizzie Mae Bacote; and a brother in-law, Leroy John Lucky.
A celebration of Mr. Cox’s life and legacy will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at church from 9:00-10:00 AM. Entombment will be in Beaverdale Mausoleum.
