Maxine C. Henderson, 89, of New Haven, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017.
Born in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late James and Leona Pitts on June 4, 1927, she retired from the State of CT as a DMR Aide.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Sr.; son, Keith; brothers: James, William and John.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her sons: Ret. West Haven Fire Chief Elmer Jr. (Rita), James (Frances), Thomas (Deborah) and daughters: Leonora (Frank) and Candace.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9:00am at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 425 Newhall St., Hamden, CT 06517. Friends may call an hour prior to service. Interment will be at Beaverdale Cemetery, Hamden, CT

I JUST HAD A HIP REPLACEMENT AND AM RECIVING THEROPY OR I WOULD HAVE ATTEND THE SERVICE

To the family, it has sadden me to read about Mrs. Maxine passing. As, you know my mother Pearlie and your mom were great friends working together and she become like our mother. She also was a great camera woman as she took pictures at my wedding and back then it was on a projected. We know that God makes no mistakes and she no longer suffering, she is in a better place and with my mom rejoicing as they have reunited as friends again. I send my heartfelt condelonces as I know how it is. May God strengthen and comfort you all. Love you Loretta.

To Leonora, Tommy, Candace, Elmer, James, and the entire Henderson family, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I was away when I heard and couldn’t get home in time. I loved Ms Maxine and I will cherish the memories I have of her. Please know that you are all in my prayers for God to comfort you and give you peace during this time and always. I love you, Family!
