Ludelia C. Daniels, 99, of Hamden, formerly of New Haven, departed this life September 21, 2014. She was the widow of John Daniels.
Born in Macon, GA, September 19, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Hillard Huckaby and Sarah Callaway Huckaby.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Daniels was employed at the former Winchester Repeating Arms as a Machine Operator.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church where she served on the Usher Board for over 50 years and was a former member of the Gospel Chorus.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by sons, The Honorable John C. Daniels, Jr. and Robert L. Daniels; a daughter, Agnes Sessions; sisters, Sadie Holley and Agnes Williams; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Melvin Daniels; a daughter, Joyce Senior; brothers, Floyd, Eugene, Reuben, Walter and Hillard Huckaby; a sister, Emma Woods; and 2 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Mrs. Daniels’ life and legacy will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
