Larry Darnell Cotten, 61, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on January 23, 2015. He was the husband of Cynthia Stevens Cotten.
Born in Bethel, NC, April 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Cornelius Cotten, Sr. and Hattie Carney Cotten.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Cotten was employed at Yale University in the Facilities Management Department.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Oriental Lodge Free and Accepted Masons Prince Hall.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Kayson Stoner (Natalie), Lamont Reed and Larry Cotten, II; stepson, Gregory D. Teel; stepdaughter, Lakiya Nichols (Andre “Oz”); brothers, Cornelius Cotten, Jr. (Eula Mae), Joseph Cotten and John Cotten (Earla); sisters, Dorothy Winstead (William), Gloristine Reid, Annie Jackson (Wyatt), Barbara Parker (Harold), Terre Daniels and Annette Cotten Johnson (Michael); mother in-law, Shirley Stevens; 9 grandchildren; a brother in-law; 2 sisters in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Moore.
A celebration of Mr. Cotten’s life and legacy will be held Friday, January 30, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Dr., Hamden. Viewing will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
