Brenda Cowan-Bogle “Ma Brenda,” 67, of West Haven, entered into eternal rest on May 27, 2016. She was the wife of Barrington Bogle.
Mrs. Cowan-Bogle was born in Delway, NC on December 2, 1948. She was a daughter of the late Willie Theodore Cowan and Margaret Herring Cowan.
She was employed at Connecticut Hospice as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant Manager for 25 years. Mrs. Cowan-Bogle was a member of Thomas Chapel Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Inger Cowan; grandchildren, Dean Lee, Cherelle Carr, Shanae Cowan and Brandon Roye; brothers, Willie T., Vernon and Herman (Belinda) Cowan; sisters, Marie (Robert) Peterson and Myesha and Melanie Karr; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by sisters, Pearl Cowan Richardson and Victorine Cowan; and her stepfather, William Allen.
A celebration of Mrs. Cowan-Bogle’s life and legacy will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Varick Memorial AME Zion Church, 242 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
