Wilbert Sims, 85, of New Haven, departed this life March 27, 2021. He was the widower of Joanne Roberts Sims.
Mr. Sims was born in Newton, MS on November 25, 1935, a son of the late Glover Sims and Eloise Mapp Sims.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Race Brook Country Club as a Chef and was a longtime member of Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hamden.
Mr. Sims had a friendship, which spanned many years, with the Sutton Family and Robinson Family.
He leaves to cherish loving memories, his biological children, Thomas Sims and his wife Cecile, Lucia Sims, Deborah Morgan, and Shannon Murray and her husband Sam; two bonus children, Michael Roberts and his wife Tanya, and Lisa Roberts; brothers, Elbert Sims and Wilbur Sims; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by brothers, Woodrow, Willie Lee and John Sims; and a sister, Rachael Mae Blakely.
A celebration of Mr. Sims’ life and legacy will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
