Ronald Ellsworth Thomas of New Haven, CT, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered eternal rest on October 4, 2021. He was the widower of Ruby Thomas.

Ronald was born on August 12, 1940, in New Haven, CT. He attended Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT., and graduated in 1957. After high school, Ronald joined the U. S. Army and later served in the U.S. Marines. After serving in the military, Ronald lived in San Francisco, California before returning to New Haven, where he joined the New Haven Police Department, from which he retired.

Ronald and his wife, Ruby, happily raised their beautiful family of three children (Joyce, Harold, and Markus) together, whom they loved dearly.

Survived by his sons: Markus R. Thomas(Maria) and Harold F. Jones(Lisa); nieces: Dorene Maynard Siggars, and Sharon Brown; grand-nephews: Gordon Gregg, Dean Gregg, Roy Siggars, and Michael Siggars; grand-niece: Kianja Lucus; 12 grandchildren(Nigel Jones; Aijana Muriel; Charvas Muriel; Keosha Muriel; Idinah Muriel) and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Ruby Thomas; daughter: Joyce D. Muriel; mother: Rose Alexandria Thomas; brothers: Kenneth Thomas and Warren Thomas; sisters: Dorothy Thomas and Bernice Maynard.

Ronald was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of Mr. Thomas’ life and legacy will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
