Roberta Lee Saunders-Gray, 71, of West Haven, entered eternal rest on June 26, 2016.
Ms. Saunders-Gray was born in New Haven, CT on August 15, 1944, a daughter of the late Ernest and Millie Saunders.
Roberta earned a B.S. in Allied Sciences and Psychology from Howard University and later earned her M.S. in Urban Administration and Ph.D in Public Administration from Georgia State University.
She served as President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at numerous healthcare facilities including D.C General Hospital, Harlem Hospital, Kings County Medical Center, St, Louis Regional Medical Center, Howard University Hospital, St. Raphael Hospital and Health Care System, St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and most recently, Baltimore Bon Secours Health System. Roberta was a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives, American College of Health Executives (ACHE) and the Connecticut Women in Health Care Management.
She was honored by St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation with the dedication of the Roberta Saunders-Gray Pre-Surgical Testing Center.
She leaves to cherish loving and lasting memories, a sister, Ruth Saunders; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roberta was predeceased by brothers, Richard, Ernest, Joseph, William and Howard Saunders.
A celebration of Ms. Saunders-Gray’s life will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 9:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
