Norma Bell, 82, of North Haven, departed this life on April 21, 2021. She was the widow of Carlton F. Bell.

Mrs. Bell was born in Boston, VA on April 6, 1939, a daughter of the late James W. Simpson and Sarah E. Simpson.

She was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry as well as several search committees within the church. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Union of Black Episcopalians. In 2008, she received an Official Citation from the State of CT General Assembly for her numerous community activities to help others.

During her years of employment, she was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Bookkeeper and later as a Supervisor.

Mrs. Bell leaves to cherish loving memories, her son, Carl Bell; a daughter, Coleen Bell-LePere; grandchildren, Craig Jones, Jr., Zwelakhe and Journi LePere, and Christine E., Courtney M. and Chelsea M. Bell; two great grandchildren, Cayla L and Craig E. Jones, III.

She was predeceased by a son, Gregory Bell; and brothers, Leroy and Weldon G. Simpson.

A celebration of Mrs. Bell’s life and legacy will be Friday, April 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. A maximum of 45 people will be allowed to attend the Celebration of Life. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. A Walk-through viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM.
