Magnolia Gibson, born on December 20, 1937 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Sidney Bell Light and Fannie Mae Woods departed this life peacefully on April 2, 2018 at the age of 80 in Yale-New Haven Hospital.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Hosie Amos Gibson. She was also pre-deceased by sons, Hosea “Bubba” Gibson Jr and Terry Light, three daughters Sharon Light, Gloria and Vanessa Gibson, a brother, S.L. “Buddy” Light, and a sister, Ora Lee Abdullah.
Magnolia enjoyed spending time with family and was a loving, caring mother and grandmother.
Magnolia attended First Pentecostal Church of Christ in New Haven and loved the LORD.
Magnolia is survived by daughters, Victoria Borges (and husband, Tony,) Linette Gibson, Cassandra Ashe (and husband, Jonathan); sons, Giovanni Gibson and Gerald Gibson; a brother, Timothy Light; grandchildren: Tatianna, Xavier, Magnolia, Darryl, Jr. and Jordan, and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
A celebration of Magnolia’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 9:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
