Ireal Gibbs Lowery, 81, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph L. Lowery, Sr.
Born in Beaufort County, NC on December 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Gibbs and Alma Lee Credle Gibbs. Before her retirement, Ms. Lowery worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Arden House in Hamden, CT.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Joseph L. Lowery, Jr. and his wife Darlene, and Maurice Lowery and his wife Esther; a brother, Lenus Gibbs; a sister, Willa Mae Bailey; seventeen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Melvin Credle; sister in-law, Martha Bromell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Ronald Lowery and a brother, Raymond Credle.
A memorial service celebrating Ireal’s life and legacy will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven. Interment of her cremated remains will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. The service will be livestreamed via the following link: https://www.facebook.
