Howard was beloved by everyone who knew him. A celebrity in his own right, he would light up any room he walked in, and the life of every party.
He was an incredible chef and owned and operated his own food truck “H.P.’s” for over 30 years. He fed many loved ones, and strangers alike. A staple of the downtown New Haven scene.
To say Howard will be missed is the understatement of a lifetime. His absence will leave a void in so many that will not be filled in this lifetime.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday July 10, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by a Service at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council on 128 Dwight St. New Haven, CT 06511.

I will always remember your larger than life smile that lit up any room you entered. We were all kids a moment ago and now we’re faced with “so longs, till we meet again.” You lived, loved and laughed well in this lifetime. Always a family man, father and friend to so many. Your nieces are my sisters and I promise to watch over them and comfort them in their time of need. I will miss your smile that is now eternal in our hearts. You will be missed, till we meet again. Until then, I know Tally Scott picked you up in his ride, diamond in the back, sun roof top, digging the scene with a gangsta lean, headed to Heaven. Travel well, Howard. Sending love to all of your family.

Sending my heartfelt sympathy and condolences and prayers to the family. I knew Howard from way back in the day, to the present. We are the same age, he and my daughters father Randall Hobson were real tight back in the day. I had the pleasure of meeting his son James Hoskie, a great young man. I know he will be truly missed. R.I.P. my brotha!
This one hit me a little differently, had not seen you in a while my cousin, but all the memories came flooding back from our childhood to our adult lives. You were the one who lived life with no fear and loved it just as fierce! There are memories of you looking out for us (cousins) in New Haven, taking us around, proudly introducing us as your family from Virginia, when you had just lost your father (my uncle), making us feel loved and secure. And coming down to New York with our cousin Ronnie to check on me when I had moved there in the summer of ‘95. It didn’t matter that we missed each other (no cell phones back then), only that you made that effort to make sure that I was ok. And that is the thing that will always stick with me, the LOVE that you had for family! Rest in Peace my dear cousin!
LIKE THE SONG; “WE GO A LONG WAY BACK”!
