Hilda Mae Crumble Manning, 88, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on December 8, 2018. She was the widow of James Manning, Jr.
Mrs. Manning was born in Bethel, NC, on February 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Isiah Crumble and Rosa Harrell Crumble.
She was a longtime member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Board; and prior to retirement, was employed at Yale University as a Laboratory Technician.
Mrs. Manning leaves to cherish loving memories, daughters, Hilda J. Manning, Ophelia Smith (Sam) and Carolyn Barrett; a son, James K. Manning; a sister, Rosa L. Richardson; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Plummer Este Crumble, Willie B. Crumble and Isiah Crumble, Jr.; a sister, Lillie V. Knight; and a son in-law, William Barrett.
A celebration of Mrs. Manning’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 100 Webster St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
