
George W. Thorne Sr., the son of the late Robert and Truller Thorne Sr was born July 28,1938 in Nashville, North Carolina. He quietly slipped into his eternal life on the day of February 28, 2025. He was educated in Nash County Public School in Nashville NC. George was a devoted lover of his siblings, children, grand and great grandchildren.
He was a hard-working man. He had a lucrative career in the automotive industry. George was a caring and helpful person. He stayed in contact with his children when you saw him with one or two you saw him with three or four.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Truller Thorne Sr. his siblings Clifton K. Thorne, Anna Louise Thorne Lewis, Eddie L. Thorne, Geraldine Thorne, his sons Martin and Bryan Lee Thorne, son-in-law Bobby Allen and his great granddaughters Alora Washington and Anari Thorne.
He leaves his memories to be cherish by his children, Andy C. Thorne Sr of Fredericksburg, Va , George Washington Thorne Jr (Mable) of New Haven, Ct, Willie Ransom of New Haven, Ct, Michelle Thorne Allen of Va Beach, Va, Denise Williams (Darnell) of Richmond, Virginia, Cheri Lee Ransom of New Haven, Ct, George Ivan Thorne of New Haven, CT, LaTonya Colson McFarland of Newark, NJ, Jequetta Thorne of New Haven, Ct, Marchelle Lawrance of Charlotte, NC, Glen Lawrence( Shawanda) of Franklinton, NC, Corey McFarland of Newark, NJ. He also leaves to cherish his memories his God Daughter Chante Melvin (Roy) of Newark, NJ; a very special friend Barbara McFarland; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A viewing will take place on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, located at 128 Dwight Street, New Haven. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2:30 PM at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 5987 Red Oak Rd., Battleboro, NC 27809, with Rev. Herbert Scott as eulogist. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, 350 N 1st Street, Nashville, NC. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Funeral arrangements in North Carolina are entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
