Elouise Bronson Pope, 88, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on April 16, 2021. She was the widow of John Albert Pope, Sr.
Born in Garland, NC, June 25, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Addie Garfield Bronson and Irene Herring Bronson.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at the West Haven V.A. Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant. Mrs. Pope was a longtime member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church in New Haven where she served as a Deacon and was the Assistant Superintendent of Church School.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, a daughter, Carolyn Billups (James); a special great grandson, Richard Brown; grandchildren, Yolanda B. Whitley (Kevin), James F. Billups, III (Konnie), Johnice M. Little and John A. Pope, III; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Bronson; sons, James A. Bronson, Sr. and John A. Pope, Jr.; a granddaughter, Teresa Bronson; brothers, Lewis, Roscoe, Eddie, Ellis and Wilbert Bronson; and sisters, Louise Lee, Clara Bogerty, Annie Mae Butcher, Dorothy McNair and Frances Salisbury.
A Walk-through visitation will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. A Graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven.
Deacon Elloise memories for us growing up in Sunday she was assistant superintendent and hear her singing Can’t nobody do me like Jesus .Every Sunday morning she was park beside us Rip say hello to dad and mom gone but never forgotten. To be absent from the body is be present with the lord
