Doris Ann Bowden, 76, of New Haven, departed this life on February 11, 2020.
Ms. Bowden was born in Mt. Gilead, NC on November 13, 1943, a daughter of the late Thomas Bowden and Inna Mae Little Bowden.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, daughters, Monica and Vanessa Bowden; a son, Anthony Bowden; grandchildren, Jimeeka Moye, Angel and Terry Evans and Raul “Duke” Velazquez, Jr.; a great grandchild, Kairo Andrew Massimino; foster sister, Christine Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by sisters, Rose Watts, Roberta “Toot” Wooten, Gloria Jean Bowden, Fannie Mae Bowden Henderson and Mamie Marie Bowden; and brothers, Thomas “Jug” Bowden, Jr., Vernon “Bobby” Bowden, Roosevelt “Bo” Bowden and Frank Bowden.
A celebration of Ms. Bowden’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

My heart is feeling very heavy at this time Doris was a good person she had a heart of gold her doors was on welcome hinges to everyone that knew her welcome to come in and eat if hungry also welcome to spend the night if you’re tired and don’t feel like driving or walking home I’m going to miss her I love her very much absent from the body is present with the Lord May Doris continue to rest in peace

I didn’t know Ms Doris passed she came across my mind four days ago she and my Mom were great friends I always loved Ms Doris style she played no games especially in the 1970’s and the 1980’s always kept it a thousand, she’ll be truly missed ??????
