Dr. William Henry Sunday Moore M.D. , 91 years old, passed away on May 24, 2019 in Branford, CT at the Connecticut Hospice House. Dr. Moore was born in Maysville, NC on February 5, 1928, the fourth son of Reverend George Israel Moore and Everlener Ashford. He graduated from Jones County Training School at age sixteen. He was accepted to Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC where he spent one year, then was later inducted into the Army where he served 29 months in Japan, a post WWII Veteran. After fulfilling his military obligation he returned to Livingstone College where he met his first wife, Dolores Scott. They married in 1953 and had five children, when destiny changed and he went off to Washington, D.C. and attended Howard University for Medical School in 1963. Working as a janitor in the local hospital while going to medical school, Dr. Moore and his wife successfully accomplished his goal, graduating in 1967. Dr. Moore decided Flint, Michigan would be the ideal place to enter his Residency Program at Hurley Medical Center. After doing his training, he joined a Family Practice with Dr. Bernstein and Solik in 1969.

To their union, three more children arrived; now with a brood of eight children, the Moore family evolved. Four eagle scouts, two first class girl scouts, four doctors, one military captain, eight college graduates, one Naval Academy graduate and three attorneys. The measure of this man was not in his own accomplishments, but to those he has helped, led, guided and inspired along the way.  Dr. Moore, a man of integrity, always encouraged everyone who was interested, and respected his advice. He spread love, compassion, and faith to many families, patients, and friends.

After losing his wife, Dolores to cancer in 1994, he embarked upon God’s work and became a Mormon in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Espousing a Priest-Hood status, he assisted and helped guide many young LDS men and Parishioners in their education and training.

In 2010, Dr. Moore married Bessie Ethel Lorraine Anderson Scott. They now have twelve children amongst them. Sharing his latter years with such a stellar woman and beautiful soul, made saying “Sugar Lump” even sweeter.  Reading, singing, going to the water-front and sharing family times and memories helped his ailing years through blindness, become even more tolerable with a vision of his mansion in God’s house.

Dr. Moore leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lorraine Moore; children, William Scott Moore (Atlanta, GA), Lori Denise Scott (North Haven, CT), Captain Christopher Nathaniel Moore (Alisa) (Atlanta, GA), Julian A. Moore, M.D (Barbara) (Orlando, FL), Jeffrey K. Moore, M.D. (Jola) (Nashville, TN), Dr. Pamela D.
