Amy E. Douglas King, 98, of West Haven, entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2015. She was the widow of Garland King.

Born in Olmstead, KY, March 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Laura Douglas.

Amy accepted Christ at an early age. She united with Spellman Chapter, AME in Allensville, Kentucky. When she moved to New Haven, CT, she united with Bethel AME Church, where she was a faithful member for over 50 years, serving on the Women’s Usher Board. Amy enjoyed bowling in her free time.

She loved her family and leaves to mourn a foster daughter, Etoria Wilson of Indianapolis, IN; one sister Bennie Morrow of Pontiac,MI; 4 nieces Cleora Maxine Morris of New Haven, CT, Addie L. Holmes (Willie) of West Haven, CT, Pauline Edwards (Owen) of Pontiac, MI and Laura Ray (Stanley) of Pontiac, MI; 9 great nieces and 7 great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a brother, George O. Douglas; sisters, Nelontine Smith and Johnella Bellamy.

A celebration of Mrs. King’s life and legacy will be held Friday, August 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
